In the words of Valnoth: WHITE HOT RAGE.
Considering Ensidia (and its previous incarnation) has been exploiting for years, they didn't get what they deserve: they deserve much more. But it's nice to see that Furor personally tended to this one. Removing achievements is one of the hardest things to do in the game; it's not something a
GM is capable of. They have to bring in a team of developers to manually roll back everything. Ensidia's combat logs--and note that they have yet to release a video of their kill; they probably never will--must have been quite incriminating for Blizzard to spend all of these resources on removing their Lich King 25-man Normal Mode achievement.
My guild did Lich King today (we didn't kill him), so I know what an incredible advantage Ensidia had if they could make the edges of the platform grow back. Most of you don't; you can't glean much from the videos that have been released. There is no way they discovered this bug accidentally, because everyone has to be near the center of the platform to avoid being dragged off of the platform by valkyrs too early. This means you tank Lich King near the center, and this means there is absolutely no reason to run all the way to the edge of the platform and plant a saronite bomb on a ledge that is no longer there. You can look up Ensidia's armories right now and see that many of them powerleveled engineering today--many of them healers. By making the platforms grow back, you make Valkyrs way easier to deal with, Defile way easier to deal with, and the Ice Storm way easier to deal with; it trivializes the three hardest parts of the encounter. To be specific, because it's a circular platform, making the platforms grow back gives you 30% more time to kill Valkyrs and double the room to avoid Defile and Ice Storm.
The guy who made the ragequit blog entry, by the way--despite the fact that he's lying about not intentionally exploiting--brought up many good points about how lazy Blizzard has gotten, and how incredibly unbelievably terrible Blizzard's QA (if it exists) is. I sympathize with the downfall of
WoW, but I do not sympathize with the predicament Ensidia has gotten itself in. It's been a long, long time coming.
FYI, I wasn't excited about the Lich King, and I'm still not. He wasn't even a threat to the world. Look at him; he's fat, and sometimes he resurrects people.
Oh, the terror. Kazzak terrorized more people than the Lich King when he attacked main cities just before BC. Blood Princes, Sindragosa, Mimiron, Hodir, Yogg-Saron Phase 2 and 3, and Valkyr Twins are the only fights that got me excited in all of
WOTLK, and the limited attempts mechanic.. I don't know anyone who likes it; it makes raiding stressful as opposed to fun. It's sad that I now think "
oh man we're going to waste an attempt" as opposed to "
oh man the Lich King is shooting me with dark lightning".
